Great Blue Heron at dawn on the Indian River Lagoon;
I saw this great blue heron on this old mangrove stump just as I was entering the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge early one morning. The sun had not yet broken the horizon and there was just a slight glow in the sky. To me, he looked like a ghost in the night. I slipped up as close as I dared, hoping he wouldn't fly off. Using a tripod I shot about a 5 second exposure at f8, and thankfully, he didn't move until just after I had gotton the shot.
