Red-shouldered Hawk, captive animal; While participating in the annual Earth Day Festival at the Enachanted Forest, I noticed the Avian Reconditioning Center display just a few yards from my Titusville Environmental Commission display. There is somewhat of a controversy concerning the photography of captive animals. This mostly occurs when a photographer tries to pass off a photo of a captive animal as shot in the wild, to a prospective client. While many publications have no problem using photos of captive animals to illustrate a point, that is an editorial decision on their part based on the content of the story. The photographer has a moral obligation to communicate to any prospective client whether a wildlife photo is wild shot or captive, and the failure to do so can tarnish the reputation of the photographer in the eyes of many publishers.
